The In-flight catering and Aircraft maintenance projects at Long Thanh International Airport, with a total investment of nearly VND 1,800 billion, were officially launched by Vietnam Airlines on June 15.

These two projects are part of Component Project 4 – the Aviation Services zone at Long Thanh International Airport. The In-flight Catering Project is implemented by Vietnam Airlines Caterers (VACS), a subsidiary of Vietnam Airlines, with an initial capacity of 20,000 meals per day, expandable to 40,000. In addition to serving the National Carrier, VACS also aims to supply meals to both Domestic and International Airlines operating at Long Thanh International Airport.

The Aircraft Maintenance Project, led by Vietnam Airlines Engineering Company (VAECO), is being developed on an area of over 45,000 square meters, with a total investment of more than VND 1,100 billion. The facility can simultaneously accommodate maintenance for two wide-body and two narrow-body aircraft. The project’s designed maintenance capacity is at least 250,000 Mhrs per year, expected to handle 120–150 aircraft maintenance sessions annually.

Previously, another Vietnam Airlines subsidiary – Vietnam Airport Ground Services (VIAGS) – had also organized a groundbreaking for the Ground Support Equipment Maintenance Project at Long Thanh International Airport.

Vietnam Airlines currently operates a comprehensive aviation service ecosystem with major hubs at Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, and Long Thanh International Airport in the near future. VACS provides approximately 10 million meals annually to over 58 airlines. VAECO operates a nationwide technical network that meets U.S. and European standards, aiming to become a leading aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul center in the region.

Long Thanh International Airport is being constructed on a 5,000-hectare site, with an estimated total investment of around VND 336.63 trillion. In Phase 1, the project will build one runway, a passenger terminal, and supporting facilities, with a designed capacity of 25 million passengers per year. Completion is expected by 2026.
